Midwood Maynia & Home Tour

What is Midwood Maynia?

Midwood Maynia 2010This favorite festival is Plaza Midwood ’s way to welcome the season, the blossoms, warm weather and to party with friends, family and neighbors.  Midwood Maynia is sponsored in part and produced by the Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association and is always scheduled for the first weekend in May, in and around Midwood Park.  The event features a famous home and garden tour, a 5k race, lots of kids events, live bands, a pet parade, vendors, food, beer, ... and more!  There is just no better way to spend a spring day in the neighborhood!

Volunteers Needed, May 1st!!

The Maynia Committee is looking for volunteers to come out and help with the home tour and other events in the park. It takes a lot of people behind the scenes to pull this event off. All volunteers receive a free Maynia t-shirt, free home tour tickets, and an invite to the after party. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Brian Tressler at 704-258-6539 or btressler@gmail.com . Thanks!

Band Line-up

Mark your calendar for May 1 and at the Midwood amphitheater for an afternoon of live local music, beer, food and neighborhood friends.

12:00 -1:00 Chris Holder: Picking up the guitar at the age of 12, Chris immediately fell in love with music. With the experience of two bands and five years of performing under his belt, this young solo artist has more enthusiasm than ever.

1:30 - 2:30 Greg Lilley and Company: Brenda Gambill of Doubting Thomas and Volatile Baby teams up with "Singin' Drummer / Strummer"
Greg Lilley - playing original acoustic roots rock and diverse cover tunes.

3:00 - 4:00 Loose Lug Nuts: Midwood's favorite band got the rainy end of last year's Maynia so we just had to get them back! Willie, Hank, and Waylon are always on the set list!

4:30 - 5:30 Broken Napoleans: If you like Guns 'n Roses, Love and Rockets and the Police, you will love this good time rock and roll band - best served with a cold beer in your hand!

6:00 - 7:00 Truckstop Preachers: Well known in the area for sporting deer antlers and Johnny Cash masks during live performances, this "trucker-pop" band will turn heads in Midwood again with its high energy, electric honky-tonk, outlaw country music mixed with just the right dose of local humor!

Sponsors

Our awesome neighborhood festival, Midwood Maynia, is coming May 1! We are looking for sponsors for the festival, and in exchange, the neighborhood association will promote your business in various ways. We love our local businesses and would love to have them involved in our favorite neighborhood event!

A BIG thanks to our 2010 sponsors:

Please support our local businesses and sponsors!

Pet Parade

Assorted pets of all shapes and sizes march proudly in the parade with their human companions. Some take advantage of the parade atmosphere and dress for the occasion, while others join in along the way, unable to resist the excitement of being “on parade” for the humans! After a Blessing of the Pets, the Greenville Community Youth Organization Marching Band will lead the parade through the streets of Midwood. Prizes with a twist will be awarded to pets and their humans at the end of the parade. There is no entry fee, but we do prefer to keep it to neighborhood pets.

Gathering starts at Kilgo Methodist Church at 9:30 am and the parade starts at 10:00 am. The parade will end in Midwood Park about 11:00 am with some very special awards. The Parade features a new shortened route this year, so that everyone will be able to make it to the end at Midwood Park in time for the Awards Ceremony.

Please remember to clean up after your pet. While we do love our pets in Plaza Midwood, please be considerate with your pets once the food and music starts and refrain from having them at the amphitheatre, as there will be food, kids and other distractions.
