A white woman in her late 40s came to my door on The Plaza wearing shorts and a t-shirt. She stated she lived down the street and her father passed away and needed gas money to the VA. Almost taken I thought about giving her money but asked what street and address she lived on. I caught her b/c she didnt know and then made up a story about being with her sister. We told her we could not help her.
Then I watched her walk down the street and get in a old blue Chevrolett pick up truck that a black male was driving. They took off and headed down Nassau likely to continue working this scam.
We just reported this suspicious behavior to 311. Be on the lookout.
