Black puppy? Lab Matheson at Fort Drive (dead end)

Last two nights, I have seen a black lab puppy (about 40 pounds) roaming middle of Matheson.  Lives in area of woods near Matheson at Simpson, and runs each time she sees people.  She/he looks like a abused animal? in that she is very scared!  I called animal control to pick up, he/she often runs behind homes on Fort Street (if I have that name correct, the dead end street off matheson one block from simpson).

If anyone knows anything, I'd sleep better knowing it's ok!

Also, fyi, I have a blue eyed 'catahoula' (60 pounds white with brown spots) named ladybird, she never has gotten away but I thought I would introduce her to you all just in case....for future reference.  she has a chip and is cared for at commonwealth anim clinic, fyi.

There is a male black lab mix that has been living between Mecklenburg and Ford for over 2 months. He is usually on the Cramer property that borders Ford/ Country Club Lane/Matheson. He is dog friendly but very scared of people. Several neighbors have been feeding him trying to befriend him. We have a family on Mecklenburg that wants to adopt him. Animal Control knows of our situation and agrees that he is not an aggressive dog (I spoke with an Officer with Animal Control this week and he saw the dog).

If we are fortunate enough to capture our little guy we will be working with him to make him people friendly. Carole Collins, an animal behaviorist, has volunteered her time to work with him. Several neighbors have named him Cramer others have named him Blackberry. Please be on the WATCH as you are driving our area as he is known to sit on the road to avoid people. Just wanted everyone to know that he is a very popular fellow (even though we haven't been able to get near him even to pet) that we all want to place in his new home very soon!

Today is Cramers lucky day!!! He has been placed in his new home. The new owner had been feeding him and was able to contain him in her fenced yard today. He will finally be safe and have a warm and secure home! YEAH!!!

Well Cramer decided he missed all of his dog buddies and decided to escape. He can be spotted sunning on various lawns with his many dog friends. Please be careful as you are driving near Charlotte Country Club and Matheson Ave since he is on the loose again.

Recently I saw him dart in front of a city bus.  Does anyone know how to contact the city bus drivers to alert them.  he almost got hit /killed on Matheson Ave at Country Club Lane by a city bus.

I just spoke with Animal Control this morning. The neighbor that wants to adopt Cramer has agreed to place a baited trap on her property so he can finally be caught. Animal Control has been called multiple times per day about Cramer,,, everyone is worried he will be hit by a car. We are trying to get him off the streets so he will be safe. Many folks are feeding him but he won't warm up to any human just yet. Hopefully this will have a happy ending very soon! I'll keep you posted.
