My name is Justin Rowell. I am a Charlotte native and founder of a
local green living, consulting, design and remodeling company by the
name of Greenmodeling (www.GreenmodelingNC.com). Our Neighborhood
Green Development Program aims to increase awareness and meaningful
practice of environmental stewardship and sustainability in our homes
and lives. We are in the process of building relationships with
associations of neighborhoods where we have had clients express
interest in our services, in hopes of forming formal or informal
partnerships that can allow us to enhance and tailor our services to a
particular neighborhood.
We provide two main services to our residential customers. The first
is a green audit. Our green audit is much more than a typical energy
audit. We not only look at energy use, but also water use, land use,
waste, food, materials, community, transportation and indoor air
quality. Once the audit has been performed, we issue a comprehensive
report with recommendations organized into three main categories based
on cost: high, moderate and minor. This report will be tailored to
the interests of each resident (e.g. heating and cooling issues
upstairs, solar hot water heating, etc). We do our best to give
reliable estimates of cost and potential savings, particularly on the
major expenses, where possible. It is then up to each resident to
pick and choose which, if any, recommendations they would like to
implement and when. The resident may choose to try and implement
these themselves or Greenmodeling can do it for them. This is the
second main service we provide. Our talented construction team is led
by a man with over thirty years of experience in the industry.
Our normal cost structure is as follows: if Greenmodeling has been
contracted for a major project (more than $3000), we include the audit
for free as part of the project. If an audit is wanted without any
obligatory further work, we charge $0.20 per square foot.
We are willing to discount this rate for neighborhoods interested in a
partnership. For every group of four to six homes that can be
scheduled for audits on the same day, we will offer the following
substantially reduced pricing scheme:

2000-3000 sq.ft. $300
3000-4000 sq.ft. $400
4000-5000 sq.ft. $500
5000-10000 sq.ft. $650
10,000 sq.ft. $750
Optional additional work:
Furthermore, if a resident should use Greenmodeling for any additional
work exceeding $3000, we will reduce the price for this work by 50% of
the cost for the audit.
