    Suggestions for an Arborist?

We have a HUGE oak tree in our front yard that has started randomly dropping branches.  Not good.  Can anyone suggest an arborist who can come out and take a look at the tree to see if it's diseased?  We had a tree service come a couple of years ago and they trimmed the tree up, but it appears this may be a bigger problem than I originally thought.

Heartwood Tree Service generally gets good reviews.  They have an arborist and can handle big jobs.  They frequently work in Plaza Midwood.  We use Gardner's Tree Service.  He's generally cheaper but not always reliable if you need something done quickly.  He does good work when he gets around to it.  Last time I talked to him, he wasn't taking new customers.

If you don't use angieslist.com, I would highly recommend it for finding service providers.  We have had very few problems with anyone we found there.

I have heard that Butterworth is really good.  He did stump removal at my place and was great, but his speciality is dealing with trees.  He is definitely worth a call.  He was unbelievably professional.

you've probably already gotten this taken care of - but in case you have not - or were not satisfied...we've used Don Morgan in the past (& also have friends in the hood who have) and have been extremely pleased with his care of & knowledge of trees. A soulful guy - he's got quite the connection with these old gals (& guys) in PM. 704.892.4232 (not to mention how reasonably priced he is) Smile [:)]
