Gym/Fitness Center needed-I am new to CLT

New to CLT, new to PM.  I want a simple not expensive gym to join monthly that has free weights and is close or walking distance, does anyone have any ideas that I can explore?

The Fitness Factory on Hawthorne Lane is cheap, close, and has free weights.  A lot of police officers and body builders work out there.  You can also use it 24 hours per day.  Peak Fitness on Morehead is probably the next closest gym that is reasonably priced.

Georgetown DaySpa on Thomas Ave. (next to the Penguin) also has a nice little gym in the back

The Johnston YMCA in NoDa is a nice facility.  It's not nearly as crowded as the other Y facilities.  It's reasonably priced if you purchase a membership just for that facility as opposed to a city-wide membership.  You'll also meet folks from the neighborhood there.

Paul - amny folks in this area belong to Johnson YMCA on No.Davidson.It is least expensive of all the Ys but plenty to keep you in shape; they are currently remodeling so it will be even better when they finish. As a member, you can visit other Y's 3 times every month & often they have a time when joining fee is waved. You can ask when next " no fee"  time is. Hope this helps.
