There is a little known theatre on Clement Avenue that is starting to garner a LOT of attention as of late! The Carolina Actors Studio Theatre (or CAST) is known for its "experiential" style theatre - a style that encapsulates its audience 360 degrees the moment you walk through the door. Audience goers have come to expect the spectacle of "the lobby" for each new show. Artistic Director Michael Simmons sets the vision of each new production with a completely rebuilt lobby that surrounds the audience with the theme of the current production. From a laboratory and body parts from "Monster" - the true story of Frankenstein, to a farm house for "Foxfire" complete with hay bales, tack, and "barn wood" covered walls. It truely is a sight to see!
The current production is the most ambitious by far! "Metamorphoses" is a modern telling of ancient Greek myth - but here's the kicker - the play occurs in, around, and UNDER water!!! Michael and son Robert Lee Simmons have converted the 78 seat theatre into a 4000 gallon pool! Click here for a sneak peak:
