    Graffiti mural in Plaza Midwood

Begining this Saturday morning, May 2, graffiti artists will converge on the building to the rear of 1401 Central Ave to paint the largest mural in the Charlotte area.  The lead artist and designer is Victor Des.  He will lead a group of artist that will paint a mural on the side of a building that will extend approximately 100 feet.  The work will be a tribute to the world famous late Vaughn Bode'.  His family has authorized this event to be a "Bode' Jam."  You are welcome to come by and see how it is done, take pictures, and chat with the artist.

What a fantastic idea. I recently watched a documentary about graffiti in France. Apparently in France graffiti is accepted and understood to be a serious art fom and not discarded or frowned on. It is celebrated, revered - so glad to see that my "hood" is in the forefront of understanding art. It is not corporate! It is from the soul, from the heart, from someplace that no one truly understands but that we should all applaud.
