    Mugging on Pecan Ave

At 12:30 Saturday night, two people were mugged at gun point on their walk back home to the townhomes on Pecan Ave.  They told me it happened right in front of my house (one of the three new homes near the corner of Pecan and Central).  They've reported the mugging to the police and were told that there was at least one other mugging nearby last night.

I told them to come to the next PMNA meeting in October and to report the mugging to the PMNA in the meantime.  They said it was fine if I reported it as well.  Like me, they have only lived in the neighborhood for about a month and love it here.  They wereare interested in what the neighborhood is doing with respect to "crime watch.".  I told them that the police were at the July PMNA meeting and there is much awareness and effort underway.

By the way, I always leave my porch light on but last night I didn't and I feel awful about it.  Not sure it would have made a difference, but it surely couldn't have hurt to have the area lit up more, so I won't make that mistake again.

Do you have any contact information for the couple?  I am sure the police are doing all they can do and not a lot we can do after something like this happens.  It is again a crime of opportunity and then they are out of the neighborhood.  I saw this on the news this morning and been trying to get as much information together as I could but no detailed description.

I am going to follow up with the grid captain for the area of the incident, if there is one since I am not sure of exact location and there is a grid uncovered along Hamorton.  We need to make sure all the street lights are on and working.

I am very sorry this happened and if you would like to sit down with me to discuss some safety measure we can implement in that area please let me know.
