    New Family on the Way

Hi folks, my name is Ethan Hagen.  My wife and my two daughters and I are moving to Charlotte from Buffalo NY in a few weeks and we're looking at a few places to live(we're going to rent for 1 year until we get to know Charlotte a little better, and then buy).

I just wanted to drop a quick line and see if anyone has any advice or comments for a young family moving into the area.  We're leaving everything we know up north here and embarking on a new adventure.   My wife was hired by CMS as a teacher, and I work in the Dining Services Management field.  We should be coming in a few weeks and the Plaza-Midwood are seems nice and within our price range.  We came down a few months ago and took a look at the P-M, NoDa areas a little bit, but any advice or suggestions would be welcome

Thanks in advance and hopefully we'll be seeing some of you soon.

Re: New Family on the Way

    Hello Hagen family!

Plaza Midwood and NoDa *are* good places to settle. However, traffic all over town can be miserable. You don't say where your wife will be working. I'd strongly suggest trying to be close to her work or yours if you know where you'll be working.

I moved from Merry Oaks (almost Plaza Midwood) to the Cotswold area several years ago and like it very much as well. I'd avoid south Charlotte and the University areas if i were you. Just FYI, I've been here most of the years between 1970 and now, so a rare long time resident. You'll likely meet more people from Buffalo than native Charlotteans...

    Hope this helps!
