Hara,

We have haunted many of the nurseries in the area. There are some good ones, but none really close to PM. And it sorta depends on what you're looking for.

The best all-around we've found is Rountree Gardens (on Sholtz, off old Pineville Rd. south of Woodlawn). Rountree has a very good selection of foundation and specimen plants including some heirloom varieties. Their tree selection is OK. Carl in the back is very helpful. It has become our nursery of choice.

Campbell's Nursery (off South Blvd near Atherton Mill) is good too, but their selection is limited and pricey. They do have a good selection of house plants and orchids, and the staff is very helpful.

The best spot we've found for trees is Dearness Gardens (Old Statesville Rd., Huntersville) It is a haul out there, but they have the best trees we've found and a very broad, good quality selection of other plants.

Closer to home, Royal Gardens on 7th has a good selection of heirloom roses, but not much else plant-wise.

Good luck!

: Hey, it's me again... the new kid on the block. I also wanted to know if anybody knew of a good nursery for plantings in the area. Thanks for the help! Hara
