Hi,
We've rented a house in the neighborhood for about a year, and are wondering if any sort of community garden exists or has been attempted? There are still lots of us renters & duplex/apt. dwellers in the neighborhood, as well as folks with poor backyards for gardening. A community garden would be a great way for these people to get an opportunity to grow veggies, herbs, etc., as well as facilitating communication and friendship among neighbors.
Does anyone have experience with community gardens? For instance, there are 2 vacant lots by out house (at the corner of Clement & Hamorton, & along Clement from Hamorton until its end), what are procedures for convincing lot owners to let them be put to productive use? I'd love to hear peoples thoughts.
